Overview

jZip is an extremely fast file archiver and extractor. The main drawback is that will attempt to install third party toolbars/advertisements, but you can cancel these installations during the setup.

Compression Formats

It can create ZIP, 7Z, GZIP and TAR archives - enough to work with best types of file archives (see our tests regarding best compression format). It cannot create RAR archives, but only WinRAR can create this type (.rar is under their paid license).

jZip it shows compression ratio fro each file within an archive, you can split an archive into multiple parts (zip.001 ..) based on size and encrypt with password.

At Preferences you don't have too many options, but you can associate the program to be default opener for specific file types, change the size of toolbar buttons and change view mode (details, icons, list ..).
